My family recently experienced an outage where we couldn't connect to any Apple services via our home network. Messages and Mail wouldn't connect, nor would iTunes or the iCloud control panel. The rest of the internet worked fine.

It coincided with my connecting an ancient AirPort Express to the network. It was unsupported by the macOS version of AirPort Utility so I had to use the Windows version.

The situation resolved a few hours after I disconnected the Express. I'm wondering if it had presented a security risk that was detected at Apple's end, blocking our IP address, or if it was just coincidence?

(Yes, I checked Apple's server status and everything was fine.)

When was this? As there was an iCloud outage last week.

Thanks, I saw that in my troubleshooting but it was more recent, only a couple of days ago.
