lol fanboys, so many things they could of added to make ios better & they continue to neglect...when will they add text from anywhere on the screen? a simple jailbreak app that is amazing, and apple still hasnt done it. as someone else said novelty is what they added.

I was a little underwhelmed, it seems if you're not a Facebook / social network user this release isn't really for you (me). I guess we'll see more once people start downloading the beta and documenting the full changes.

I was hoping for information on a quicker way to "do things" such as to turn WiFi on and off, but as I said, time will tell.

I'm a bad iOS Typer and I get lost all the time. So yes, iOS 6 addresses my individual needs.

BUT...

No facelift on the OS is extremely disappointing. There's so much missing aesthetically and functionally that it doesn't feel like a 2012 OS.

Ugh, and now I'm beyond pissed. It's over and there was not a single cool thing. Most of it was novelties we will never use just like FaceTime. This should have been iOS 4. Honestly maps is cool, but in reality how slow and laggy is it going to make our phones. This was just the biggest disappointment apple ever came out with. If you think this was a good upgrade then please share your apple juice because mine isn't strong enough. And no Apps for the apple tv?! I mean that would've even made up for it. Ugh just so pissed.

To be realistic a lighter ui would've done it, but I was hoping for widgets, possible live weather on the lock screen, and that was it.

If you say so. Seemed pretty good to me - I could see the electronic pass/ticket capability really taking off. I doubt seriously that Maps will slow things down much ... on the new iPhone. ;)

By the way, I use FaceTime more than I use Skype.

Judging by your comments now, you would've said that was not enough even if that were the case.

Like I said, all I wanted was some kind of visual change. I mean the change from iOS 3 - iOS 4 was extremely exciting just because of the new background but here there weren't any changes. It's cool how far a little ui change can go. Like once I get iOS 6 in the fall I'll probably be "ok" just because of the new default background. It's just the small ui changes

What does this mean?

How about I get back to you when it's released? Considering, you know, that nobody has access to it in a stable form yet? Eh?

Beyond the new maps features, which look incredible... and I suppose the "Retina" macbook, everything else was disappointment city. In fact, I'm very disappointed.

I fully expected personalization options in iOS 6. It needs a much deeper makeover than what has been provided thus far.

It's a shame, to be honest.

This was the strongest WWDC presentation in several years. Focused on practical, useful features, and needed improvements to core functionality.

People who are constantly clamoring for a complete rewrite of the software and a brand new look to iOS just for the sake of change need to get over it. It will never happen. Apple is on a yearly update cycle. Things will always be incremental.

Your "major" rewrites comes with things like Siri, FaceTime, and the new Maps. Curious to see whether the new Maps offers walking directions and public transit options. My guess is it doesn't, and it will take some time to offer it (particularly public transit data). iOS 7 perhaps.

I'm also curious to see what new features are coming exclusive to the iPhone 5, as this seemed like a pretty comprehensive presentation.

Most disappointing iOS reveal yet

Hopefully there's some decent features in those "200 new features" that they haven't announced, because the gist of it was basically: -

1) Siri that can answer a few questions about sports, movies and restaurants. They only showed American support as usual; will it work for sports in other countries?

2) Facebook integration (still no decent sharing API for other services - they're all hardcoded). And the level of Facebook integration has been on other devices for years, it's not the "world's most advanced" at all.

3) New maps. This does look good, but again my other devices have had turn by turn for a long time. 3D maps.. I can't think of a use for that. It's a flashy, cool feature for sure, but doesn't really have a practical usage.

4) Passes. If this works in the UK it'll be pretty cool.

5) VIP contacts. Not sure what to think about this... pretty boring.

6) Do not disturb. Again, pretty boring, and the ability to slide upwards to send a message and decline the call. The reminder about calling back is actually a good idea.

7) Safari tabs sync with desktop. I expect this will only work with Safari on Windows.. which I wouldn't touch with a barge pole.

Colour me underwhelmed!

I disagree, I think iOS 6 looks pretty big.
What do you want? Seriously.

Were you watching the same keynote I was? I thought iOS 6 is a great release especially with the maps and siri enhancements.

I can post to facebook in 1 click, but it still takes 3 clicks to turn-off wifi and 4 for bluetooth. Glad its always 73 and sunny still too. iOS6 is appearing to be a major bust for me.

This is the first iOS beta in a long time I'm not trying out right out the gate & in the past I've been rather excited for betas. When they opened up with Siri knowing sports scores, I sighed and facepalmed. The maps app is great and long overdue (as is pull-to-refresh in mail), but when bloggers are mentioning features like "separate sigs for your email accounts" one gets the feeling this update is simply meh.

Here's to hoping it'll be far more impressive when it's launched in the fall.

Aside from maybe having Siri on my iPad to mess around with while at home I could care less about the other features that I hardly or never use. Nothing major for myself.

Also, If the leaked photos are true on the iPhone 5 which I think is ugly I'm really thinking about getting an android phone and sticking with my iPad for iOS.

how come people who say they disliked it are getting thumbdowned so much? i mean take a break from the apple juice and look. The only new actual features was maps. the others werent even full features but rather just more bloatware. and stop saying jailbreak because obviously we dont want to.

I doubt it. People have unrealistic expectations of OS releases. I think if they understood even a small part of OS development they would see it is a pretty big jump.

still no ui redesign or at least themes??:(

Major UI changes will probably not happen any time soon (not saying I wouldn't like a UI change, just trying to be practical). Look at screenshots from OS X 10.1 and 10.8

They are pretty much the same just with some refinements. I would imagine iOS will be the same way for a while.

I'd much rather functionality changes over UI.

What does this mean?

That means your choices are all negative because you wanted people to agree with you over having a discussion.

SO before iOS 6 so many people were complaining about siri being a nevelty and never really using it and now it gets sports, restraunt, and other updates and all of a sudden it becomse awesome and everyone will all of a sudden actually use it? no its just the apple juice and by december ill bet all these "novelty" features will wear off just like many others.
