now that a jailbreak is moments away on iOS 13.3 that isn't hardware dependent (works with A12/A13), I'm ever more tempted... as a jailbreaker (this is my own preference / predicament, so you can disregard this as part of the decision when answering the poll yourself)

I did suffer from PWM on the X, but not sure if the PWM changes on 11 pro will affect me. also concerned about a warm and what I perceive to be a dingy screen, but I have a $525 gift card on standby and have for some time when I traded in my X and paid for XR outright. Also not sure about going back to 64 from a 128gb device, or splurging for 256...

I may hold off for SE2/iPhone 9 or iPhone 12 (not sure it'll be radically different, or that the 5G radio won't leave something to be desired for an updated 5G radio later), later this year, or wait even another year, but what do you think for people who did it?

Even though 11 has A13 and the camera optic improvements / night mode (minus telephoto), I don't feel overly compelled to get the 11 from XR specifically because I love my XR and doesn't seem that different. If I had a different upgrade path (from say X/XS or an 8 variant, maybe I'd feel different, and its a fine phone on its own especially for the price. just not sure I wanna play panel lottery for the same spec screen either or build quality / other parts)

I just updated it to 13.3 too and it runs well but..

Lots of indecision but

any thoughts?

Nowadays iOS does mostly everything a jailbreak would do (back in the day). And the quality of the community has gone downhill (bickering, stability of jailbreak, stability of tweaks, huge paywalls and weird pricing things going on, etc).
Soiurce: Closely following r/jailbreak, + used to develop jailbreak tweaks

iPhone 11 Pro Max >> iPhone XR. A substantial factor for me is the combination of the screen + camera. You might have cameras that are almost as good as those on the 11's, but seeing what's being filmed in vivid detail makes a world of difference to me.

Not here to debate utility of jb. My mind is made up on that one. Just expressing why I’m now considering upgrading hardware. Thanks for your input on that part tho! (Hardware)

i’m not into the jail breaking part.. but.. i did switch from the XR to the 11 PM.. and i don’t have any regerts 🤤

what are your favorite aspects of the upgrade?

was iOS 13 on your xr before trying the pro Max?

The hardware is the point of curiosity for me

I had a XR for 8 months now a 11 pro, i got it cheap was using a 8 at the time, sold it before release while had some value for a tidy profit and tried a XS max for size, sold it used a $50 SE till i got the 11 pro.

Smaller size, better camera, OLED, and i went 256gb instead of 64 were my main reasons.

dang you do a lot of hopping. Not long ago that was me but I’ve slowed my roll at least a little!

how long did ya use max before deciding nah on the size?

I was only briefly a 4.7” user with 6, then 6+,7+,X,XR.
X to xr felt like ahhh cause it scales like the max DPI wise. And I missed the plus like experience.

I don’t really want an 11 though since it’s so close to XR. By itself it seems amazing if not for that.
Downsizing sounds nice for the hands but with a silicone case on my XR (11 official silicone lol) it’s easier to handle.

so I think logically the pro max is the contender if any. But there’s all the aforementioned concerns. And it’s expensive. And I’d probably have to go 256, since forkingover all that cash to go 128 to 64 again feels like a compromise. Especially if I hold onto it longer than a year which I have with my xr so far

and , to add confusion, iPhone 9 if it’s a 4.7” a13 drop in with updated camera for cheap sounds like a nice middle ground to scratch the upgrade itch, though it won’t be jailbreakable for a long time for my uses since it won’t be shipping with an exploitable version whenever it comes out. But I kinda miss touchID too. Though iOS 13 made Face ID snappier which is cool.

lol. To any one else I’d sound nuts. On macrumors these are the dilemmas we face commonly

an improved camera sounds nice but I’m still digging the xr even minus night mode. It still wows me with good lighting compared to what I recall with x and still don’t feel I’ve maximized that aspect of the tool

to the only person who said no so far - why? I wanna hear people’s input who added to the poll regardless of view

I pick up a few off gumtree and flip or keep, my 11 pro i got on contract though so won't be flogging it off will go to my daughter or son if i upgrade.

Only had the Max a few days lol, i had one for longer when they first came out though.

just remember, iOS is iOS .. so upgrading can feel very stale. get the 11PM and flex on all the other peasants

haha these are conflicting statements

but you are right. It’s crazy my SE on 13.3 feels fresh again. A model that has been out since early 2016
