I looked at a Space Grey MacBook Pro and saw two chips that were so easy to spot.
Had it been the Sky blue it would barely been visible, I think...
Finger prints can be wiped off but scratches cant. Made me realize that I definitely am leaning towards the sky Blue.
This was Space grey and the scratch was so visible I can only imagine what Midnight would look like with a scratch given it is darker/.

Since I plan to bring this list MacBook everywhere I suspect it will just be a matter of time before I will scratch it even though I normally is very protective of my stuff.

Midnight is gorgeous but fingerprints (not so bad and can be polished off easily) and scratches (cant be fixed) makes me decide on Sky Blue.

No matter what color you get, you will end up with a scratch (maybe more). It is a tool not an investment. Not a good thing to obsess over things like a Mac. In the grand scheme of things with your life, a Mac shouldn't even blip on the radar.

Were I worried about scratches, Silver and Starlight would be my colors of choice. My Starlight M2 MBA looks like new, as does my Silver M1 Max MBP. The effort required is made somewhat easier by the choice of finish.

But don't make me sound like too much of a purist: I just bought an Indigo MB Neo as a travel toy. I'm anxious to see how the finish holds up.

It may be that I don't care all that much about scratches, but my M2 Midnight MBA has held up great after almost 4 years (and the fingerprint issue to me was also overblown), and I just bought a new Sky Blue M5. Of course it's way too early for any scratches, but it looks great after three-ish weeks.

Silver for the same reason for me, I hate scratches, they are inevitable but silver certainly hides it the best. Sold my M2 in silver and it still looked brand new, even the guy commented how good it looked when he came to pick it up

Go with the color you like. at the end of the day it's just a consumable device. a tool. when you're old and look back at your life, you won't care what color you chose.

Nothing ages like Silver, if that's at all a concern.

My 2015 15" MBP (silver) is basically flawless.
My MBA M5 in Silver is arriving today (replacing my silver mbp 2015) which will match my silver 17 Pro and iPP. Maybe considered boring, but like you said ages well and is the natural aluminium colour. Midnight colour was very tempting to match my 13 mini, but it had the lowest price drop and fingerprint marks would annoy me.

Upgraded my daughter's M4 Midnight to M5 since we're still within Costco's return window. Is it my imagination or does the M5 Midnight look a shade lighter this year? No matter the position, the lighter M5 is easily distinguished.

Received my MBA M5 silver yesterday, migration assistant worked flawlessly transferring everything over from my 2015 MBP. The difference in performance is just laughable really, on another level compared to Intel Macs. Glad I got the 15" as it is not that much larger than my MBP 13 probably because of the minimal bezels and weights a lot less. Should be good to for 7-8 at least I reckon.

I just checked Amazon UK and typically the midnight model has now dropped to 10% OFF, same as the Silver.

I chose Silver back in 2009 and again in 2023. Boring but that's what shows marks the least.

There's always the option to buy and fit a skin.
