Was going with titanium going to backfire for Apple?

the only negative imo is the colors. i hope its just apple having a brain fart. if they're stuck with crap colors every year because of whatever ridiculous method they have for making the frame then it was a bad choice.
Titanium can be anodized to create arrays of nanopores similar to aluminum. The pores are differently sized however - this probably impacts which dyes can be impregnated into the pores and also impacts structural color. Apple may not be able to achieve the same colors with titanium as they have with aluminum, but they definitely can use more interesting colors in the future!

Just out of curiosity, I Googled companies that apply PVD coatings to titanium, and kept seeing similar, somewhat subdued palettes of colors. I’m guessing that pastels like the non-pro 15’s aren’t possible, but there are some gold/bronze shades and a vivid blue…maybe something Apple will offer in the future?

Ooooh, very nice, so we could see a return of the Rose Gold? I think a lot of folk would be happy with that.

With Caudabe sheath cases on both my 14 Pro and 15 Pro, the titanium iPhone is 22 grams lighter than its stainless steel counterpart. I'm happy.

And:

Kind of proves just how much using Titanium is a marketing gimmick. Apparently, the iPhone 15 Pro Max is 221g, so just 19g lighter than the 14 Pro Max. How much of this is actually down to the use of Titanium, we don't know, because Apple may well have made other changes that also save weight. But 19g is nothing really, less than 10% of the weight of an already pretty lightweight thing. And the fact that the Ti has been fused with Aluminium shows that it's still not stiff enough to form the chassis on its own. The 15 Pro is still heavier than my iPhone 12 (187g v 164g) for the same screen size. And just 2g ligher than the 12 Pro. Wow. Two whole grams! That's like 2 shelled peanuts! Yay, Titanium! 🤣

I didn't like the stainless steel frame because of how much of a fingerprint magnet it was. Yeah a case helps but the act of putting on and removing the case can put scratches on that polished frame
