Washed out audio XP in boot camp. (Missing something?)

Okay I have had this problem since the time I got my iMac.

As for background, I am using a 24" Intel iMac.

I have the Realtek audio drivers updated, am using boot camp 3.1, and am using Windows XP SP 3.

I havent used my windows side in a while, but it is frustrating to not find a fix and see pretty much no response from Apple.

Have I missed a fix to this problem? Because it has been happening for years now. Thanks for the help!

I haven't got a solution, but I'm having the same problem (Win 7 on early 2009 24" iMac). The audio is decent in Mac OS X, but terrible in Windows, even through external speakers. The iTunes EQ is off.
