This is weird.... Having installed Watch OS 7.0.2 I now find that although on my Watch the required Apps are installed, if I go to the Watch App on my iPhone it shows certain Apps as not installed.
If I then tap on install it fails carrying on showing install.

Further, if I uninstall an App I then find I cannot reinstall the App.
The Watch App is failing to accept the command to install any Apps?

Edit: Even on watch 7.1 it is still failing to install apps on the watch.

your watch might have gotten a little corrupted with the update. It happens occasionally.

un-pair and re-pair your watch.
back up when you unpair
You should be able to restore from that backup, so you should't loose much, if anything.
if its still wrong, you can try an older backup, or start fresh, but you probably won't have to do those.

it can take a couple hours to fully finish, so just leave it on the charger

once it's going, If you're at home, or your watch knows your work wifi, then turn off bluetooth on your phone using the main phone settings app (don't use control center, it doesn't really turn it off). Then make sure your watch is connected to wifi. the wifi connection is faster than bluetooth, but uses more power, so once the watch is up and running, turn bluetooth back on. At best this will save maybe 10-20 minutes, so don't worry if you can't

Thanks... I appreciate the advice. I will look at each tonight and if any provides a result I’ll come back. 👍

I totally agree with this information but it always makes me smile when I hear it. It is the reason why I will never ever get in a driverless car!

Well I have found the problem.... trouble is though I cannot correct the issue.
It is Bluetooth on the Watch, it cannot complete in finding other devices.

Unpair/re-pair has not corrected the issue and I am loath to start afresh.
The only way to install any Apps on the Watch is using the App Store App on the Watch. The trouble with doing it this way is every single App always asks for the Apple Password which is very time consuming.

that screen looks normal, the phone shouldn't be listed on that screen.

the top searching normally has headphones, on mine it's just the beats that are listed (AirPods should be there also) my noise cancelling ones are not listed, even though they are on my phone.

the health devices on mine is also empty.

have you tried rebooting your phone?

Thanks for that......
ref rebooting; Yes, done both the iPhone and Watch several times after each change, nothing allows installing from the watch app to the watch.

You can delete the apps directly from the watch itself. Go to the app grid screen, tap and hold, then click the X on each app. Then try reinstalling.

It sounds like there could be something funny going on with the Apple ID you are using for App Store purchases, especially when you mentioned it kept asking you for your password when installing apps on the watch.

I know you already tried restoring the watch but have you tried signing out of iCloud and/or your App Store Apple ID's on your phone and in the Watch app and signing back in? (Note that they could be different ID's.) Surprisingly this solved an issue I had with Apple Music syncing on my phone, I had separate Apple ID's and somehow the phone appeared to get confused between the two.

I thought the only way to sign out of icloud on the watch is by unpairing which I have already done.

I don't recall exactly how to do it on the watch, I can't currently check because I already traded in my watch and I'm waiting for my new Series 6 to arrive. But try signing out on your phone and signing back in, see if that helps.

FWIW I’m having this same exact problem. I’ve got an iPhone 11 Pro Max on iOS 14.1GM and a S6 Apple Watch on watchOS 7.0.2, and recently did an erase/restore from backup on both devices. The iPhone restore went as expected. Once I knew all apps were installed on the iPhone, I setup the Watch, and everything seemed to complete as expected. But then none of my apps installed. Rebooting both the phone and watch didn’t help. I’m able to install all of my apps from the App Store on the Watch itself, AND I’m able to delete them from the Watch App. I’m just unable to install from the Watch App. Also, after installing any missing apps from the App Store on the Watch, any settings or complications in place from before are still there. Keeping my settings in place...
I filed FB8805839, and it’s still showing Similar Reports are listed as “Less than 10”. But considering most people tend to not restore their watches, I’m guessing more people would have this issue. Hard to say other than asking other random people to try unpairing and restoring their Apple Watch.

Sorry to read you too are having issues with exactly the same problem as I am having.
It does make me wonder just how many do indeed have this weird issue.
Mine only surfaced either after the iPhone or the watch were updated to their latest releases. Prior to these the watch App seemed fine. It was only by looking at the details of one App did I notice there was a problem, the watch itself seems to run fine on all apps already installed.

New to this forum. Found this thread by GOOG searching.

I have a iphone 6s & now a Watch Series 6. iCloud ID and media/purchase ID are different (curses). iphone seemed difficult to update to 14.2. Watch updated to 7.0.2 a day or so after unboxing. I have not been able to add any of the 37 available apps shown in the watch iphone app. Also, had issues with app updating on iphone, I had to enter itunes password for each of 90 apps. I think automatic iphone app update stopped about a month ago. Not sure if both "issues" are related. I am going to reach out to Apple for help.

Hi, Can you install the apps directly on the watch from the app store on the watch?

There is currently an issue affecting a small number of users where you’re unable to install apps from within the Watch App, either when setting up as new or restoring from a backup. You should still be able to install the apps from within the App Store App on the Apple Watch itself, though, as I have. I reported it to Apple and was told it’s a known issue.

As far as the other issue being promoted to enter the password over and over? I’m thinking that’s related to having the multiple accounts? Maybe try setting it up as new in the Watch App while installing the apps you want from the App Store on the Watch. Then configure in the Watch App.

That doesn’t work for me... I have one Apple account that is used for all my devices. The watch is never remembered with the password. I have to enter the password every time I install a new app on the watch.

Try signing out of your iCloud and media / purchase Apple ID's on you phone, then signing back in to both, and see if that helps things.

From what I remember, it's a bit annoying to sign out of the media / purchase one, you need to go to iCloud settings, then tap Media & Purchases, then tap the little picture of the person in the upper left and tap Sign Out.

My daughter has a series 3 watch and an iPhone 11 and is having same issue. If she clicks on install on her phone in the watch app, the install circle appears for like half a second and then the install box just appears again. nothing will install to her watch. I wiped the watch and started fresh and still the same issue.

Yes it seems related to having multiple accounts (I'm experiencing it myself). However, I must purchase all the apps again for the new account since apps-family-sharing is not working either 😏😞

still no luck... app store on the watch wont load apps either. I was on phone with a senior tech from apple last night and I told her all the things I tried and she said she was going to run me through all the same things. We recorded what was going on and I emailed her that video of the watch and the phone and she is forwarding this to the big guns to try and get a solution.. Hoping the watch isn't bad as my 13 year old daughter bought it with her own money on Amazon 6 months ago..

Have you checked that the watch is operating on Wi-Fi?
If the watch can’t use the App Store app to install it may be that there is a Wi-Fi issue.

It is Bluetooth on the Watch, it cannot complete in finding other devices.

I see you are saying that you have done the unpair/re-pair process, but then you seem to be referring to Bluetooth which has nothing to do with it.
Also you are saying that you are loath to start afresh, which is exactly what the unpair process will do.

Maybe I am misunderstanding, but did you actually complete the actions detained on the page below?

It is an annoyance, but it will not take much longer than half hour to complete the entire process to re-pair the watch.
