If all you need is time and date then no need for AW. Different use case for a smart watch.I'm still wearing my 12-year-old Luminox stainless steel watch and band. Never needs recharging, only tells the time and date, waterproof to submarine depths. I have the battery and seal replaced every two years for $35, and five years ago, I sent it out for a professional internal cleaning. I keep looking at the Apple Watch and trying to justify buying one but so far the compelling reason hasn't occurred to me.

I use it primarily as a fitness tracker (steps, recording rides and runs) and to set the alarm. Phone notifications are very useful too. Not having to keep checking the phone saves a lot of time. I understand a lot of people don't need fitness trackers and are quite disciplined with their phone usage. But for those like me who get distracted easily, it is not a gimmickOK, but what are some compelling reasons? I mean, aside from the gimmickry?
