In a van down by the river
I just came across a great RSS feed app for the Apple Watch. If your watch has cellular enabled, you don’t need to have your phone with you to receive and view feeds on the watch. Articles are easy to swipe through and read.

Here is a screenshot of MR on my watch

Nice! Do you know if this syncs with other RSS apps. I have one (Reeder) that I use on my phone/ iPad & this would be great if it would sync with those, so any articles read on one device would update the other.

At the moment, it supports a local feed option, Inoreader, Syn Read, The Old Reader, Feedbin, Fever, and BazQux Reader

edited to add: you can also send articles to your phone from your watch.

The latest beta supports OPML importing, as well as save to Pocket, send to Twitter, amongst others.

Nice to be a able to import Feedly.

You can also get notified via notifications with the latest stories from your favorite feed(s). I can stay instantly up to date about new front page stories on MR. As soon as one is posted, I get a notification on my watch (much like the Apple News story watch notification) showing part of the article. I can tap to get the full story, dismiss, or send to my iPhone for further reading later on.

Here is a picture from my watch showing a new article alert notification. You can set sync time from 5 minutes to 1 hour.

Is it worth it though ?

Looks interesting. I hate downloading new apps then having them in my app history if not needed.

Plus does it support icloud syncing instead ?

I have contacted the developer about adding iCloud syncing.

If you use your watch all the time and rather glance at your watch for quick reads etc., versus pulling your phone out of your pocket all the time to check the latest news, this app may be to your liking.

I downloaded it and can’t find a way to add a feed on my own, like I only want macrumors feed. What can I do?

Open the watch app > hard press screen > manage accounts > add account > pick Sync Reader > Description > give it whatever name you want > use Sign In with Apple option

Once you have Sync Reader listed, hard press > manage subscription and tap on add subscription > type in MacRumors. It will find the feed for you and then tap add

You got it. :) if orange is too bright for you, you cam change the colors using the phone app.

I just got a reply from the developer in regards to iCloud syncing.

“ Currently, I am working on a better “Sync Read” service (rewriting the whole backend), which allow users to sync their subscriptions as well, so I don’t have plan to add iCloud at this moment.”

What unlock pro do though? I don’t think I need it but at only $1.99 I might as well support the guy if I like his app.

and I have to say having news feed on my wrist is kinda nice, which is surprising since I’m not the one who like using feeds. Not had it on my PC. Not has it on my Mac or iPad or iPhone but this seems nice.
