Watch/iPhone Disconnect Icon Question

If the iPhone and Watch cannot connect via bluetooth but are both (supposedly) on a "known" Wifi network, does the Disconnect Icon still come on? Or only if there is absolutely NO connection (either Bluetooth or Wifi) between the Watch and paired iPhone?

The disconnect icon only comes on when the watch has no connection to BOTH bluetooth and wifi.
