So I have 9.2 on my iPhone 6S Plus and I plan on updating my Watch to Watch OS 2.2, can I do that without updating my phone to 9.3?

Thanks

From what I read, the answer is no. You need the 9.3 dev beta and not the public beta to even get the watch in a position to update to 2.2. If you have the developer beta for 9.3, you can then put the proper profile on the watch to see the beta for 2.2.

Correct, not sure about the public beta part though

Yea, I shouldn't say for certain it doesn't work with both the public and dev versions of 9.3 unless it was tested and installed by others. I have 9.3 version 13E5181f and if I install the WatchOS beta configuration profile, I can upgrade to 2.2 beta 1 if I want. I just don't want to bust it :)

For what its worth, I put the beta on 3 watches.

Do you use all three? Any feature worth it in the new beta for the watch?
I do yes. Not all at once :) The changes other than being able to pair multiple watches are pretty small as far as I can tell. I wouldn't say its worth the risk unless you are really into having the latest.

Whats the idea of three Apple Watches?

Same as the idea of all these other watches. ;-p

Not really ... Not even close. I'm a watch guy and has been a long time before I had the Apple watch.. But I haven't had three exact same model watches, only separated by the color.

And it wasn't supposed to be a criticism - taste and choice in watches it as personal as it gets, so if it's your style go for it :)

I did decide to upgrade to 2.2 beta 1 and there is no significant improvement or any issues either. I think a new feature is the rings actually show the names of each ring on the watch. As least I don't recall that before.
