Just updated today, the notifications are not working nearly as well as before and when I get a notification on the watch I now have to tap on it to read it if i see it when it comes in.
Before you had a few seconds to turn your wrist and then you could read the message directly.
Is anyone else experiencing problems with the new OS notifications?

In the notifications settings on the Watch app on your phone make sure that Notification Privacy isn’t on.

Yes the privacy thing was on.
Thanks Dwood for that tip.
Just one more thing, when the screen is off on the phone I still get the notifications on the phone and the screen comes on and it makes a sound.
The way it was before if the screen was off I only got the notification on the watch but then could see it on the phone, but the phone never made any sounds and didn't come on.
Is this just some one check mark somewhere else?

Thanks for your help fellas

You’re welcome. On the notifications thing I’m not sure. My ringer is always off so mine acts like you say yours did in the past. I haven’t tried it but I would think you’d get an audible notification on the phone if the ringer is on and a notification on the watch when your phone is locked.

I tried to repair both devices (iphone XS max).
Still not getting notifications on my watch when the screen on the phone is off.

Any ideas?

Could be a bug in iOS 13. Wait to see if it's fixed in 13.1 coming out 24th?

Maybe it's a bug but a friend did the same updates today and her notifications are going to the watch.

I'm wondering if this is a setting on the phone it self.

But basically I used to get notifications on the watch when the phone's screen was off.
Now after updating both iOS and the Watch OS in the same day the notifications are not going to the watch and the phone's screen comes on and it makes a notification sound.

Before there used to be no sound or any reaction from the phone even if with the mute button not active.

Upgraded phone to iOS 13 and watch to OS 6. Now I'm sometimes getting notification alerts on both the watch AND the phone (even thought the phone screen is off and hasn't been touched for a while) for new messages or emails. I've restarted both watch and phone but it's still happening, so looks like a bug to me.

Common issue with both iOS 13 and 13.1 and watchOS 5.

Same issues here. Get notified on both watch and phone when phone screen is not on

Also, not getting any HomeKit notifications at all on my watch which is my most used of all.

Very frustrating.

I'm not getting Watch notifications since the iOS 13 upgrade at all... I've first upgraded the phone, notifications on the Watch didn't work, so I went ahead and upgraded the Watch to OS 6, but no joy. I've restarted both devices, checked the settings (correctly set to mirror iPhone notifications). The Watch is paired, it communicates with the iPhone correctly (tried toggling DND, reading messages... all works), except of the notifications, timer, alarm and other things that are supposed to be mirrored... anyone having the same problem?

Since notifications are sent via bluetooth, try turning off bluetooth on the phone. After a few restarts of both devices mine has returned to notifications on the watch only when phone is locked.

Thanks a lot, toggling bluetooth (which was on all the time, but well) & another iPhone restart did help indeed! Alarm and timer do mirror now, some apps notifications have popped up too. I'm yet struggling with not all apps sending notifications but that seems to be rather on the iPhone end. That will yet need some tweaking but the Watch part is fine now, thanks a lot for help!

I’m having those same issue with my watch notifications. Duplicate notifications, one on the watch and the same notification when I unlock the phone. The notifications that just aren’t showing up on the watch are the applications that don’t have Apple watch applications.

I've tried to turn off and on blue tooth, restarted both devices more times I can count, tried to unpair them, tried to reinstall everything on the watch too.
Nothing seems to help.
Weird that they would miss this.

This is what helped me:
  1. Reboot iPhone
  2. Reboot Apple Watch (while iPhone is rebooting)
  3. Turn off Bluetooth on iPhone
  4. Wait for watch to finish rebooting
  5. Turn iPhone Bluetooth back on
  6. Enjoy notifications

Seems like I'm back in business.
Here's what I did:

1. Turn off blue tooth.
2. Reboot the phone.
3 Once it's on, turn on blue tooth. Once the phone has recognized the watch everything seems to be ok.

Hope this helps someone.

Yeah kinda what I did and things are back to normal(?) - This kinda happened with iOS 12 release.
