i was just wondering if the series 3 has improved sensors to read through a wrist tattoo? With the series 2 it was hit and miss. Thank you!

I have the series 3. So far, so good. On occasion it'll pop up with the passcode, but it hasn't been an issue. I still have my charge 2, so thought I would test it on my bare wrist... and HR has been tracking accurately. I haven't used apple pay yet with my watch so I can't speak to that.

No I just purchased one and now have to return it due to my tattoos the activity and workout apps won’t work

I am still able to wear my watch. I just have to place it in exactly the same position on my wrist every day so that the sensors sit where there is the least amount of ink. It's just slightly higher then where I would normally wear a watch so it doesn't look weird. Try wearing it in slightly different positions on your wrist and see if that helps.
