Honest question: Has any of you noticed (or found out) if the Watch 4 glass face is less durable than the series 3?

I swear to you, despite caring for it like it's a soap bubble, my month-old 44mm series 4 has more micro-scratches on its face than a 42mm 3 that's been through a year of workouts and accidental contact with things. Both aluminium models.

I'm concerned that part of the Watch's radical redesign may have included gimping the material quality to cut costs. Wouldn't be the first time Apple did that. I gave it to a "genius" to inspect it and I'm waiting to hear back from them but my hopes are really low on this one :(

My watch is without a single scratch and I wear it to the gym, work and even at home everyday.

Not s single scratch on my aluminum 44. I purposely bought an additional aluminum one with my stainless. I did it mainly to see the hype about scratches. I have yet to have a single scratch. I’ve not babied it either, normal every day activities going on 2 months now.

Nothing on mine and I use it daily. My old Series 2 somehow got a deep scratch in the corner mysteriously.

Nothing you can do to stop the micro scratches in this coating on the screen.

That is unless you want to put a screen protector on it. I hate the protectors.

Mine is much less sensitive than my Series 0. That thing had microscratches if you just looked at it. This one has had several accidental bumps and knocks and doesn't have anything.

Same thing happened to my S4 watch. See picture attached. I have a deep scratch in the corner of mine the first week I had it. I have a clear bumper but no screen protector. Did you get it fixed? how? with Apple via AppleCare? Just wondering if it can ever be repaired

That's weird! I've had superficial scratches, but nothing deep. I have Apple Care Plus, so I will use that if I get something like the above picture.

How do you all clean your S4 screens, and what type of cloth do you use?

Nah, I tried getting it repaired or exchanged but unfortunately Apple doesn’t cover cosmetic damage. I had to live with it until I upgraded to the new one.

The sapphire crystal on stainless steel Apple Watch models is more scratchresistant than Ion-X Glass, but it is not scratch-proof. If the screen appears to be scratched, then it is possible that you have only scratched through the fingerprint-resistant, oil repellent coating

    google re-post

I have all the types for dev works and just use a microfiber not seen any problem but only use outside for running.
I think having a long shirt covering watch saves it from getting hit.

The way I see it, it really depends with what watch comes in contact with, I do think Ion – X Glass is not nearly as durable as the Sapphire, but still is more than adequate. The unfortunate part, once it’s scratches, it’s permanent. Your best option would be use a screen protector if you find that suitable, that will conceal any scratches if it bothers you See them and will protect from any other future scratches.
