Hi all,

Does anyone know if Apple Watch Series 6 will be compatible with the upcoming iOS 27? Also, can I still use an Apple Watch Series 5 with an iPhone that's already updated to iOS 26?

Appreciate any insights or experiences!

Thanks.

Yes, both will work. iOS always supports all older versions of Apple Watches and watchOS versions.

It's the other way around that you need to be careful of. Newer watches and watchOS versions don't support older versions of iOS.

For example, you can't use a watch running watchOS 26 with an iPhone running iOS 18; but you could use a watch running watchOS 11 with an iPhone running iOS 26.

Given the Series 6 is the oldest model supported by watchOS 26 I wouldn't hold out hope. But we won't know until June.

Yes, iOS is backwards compatible with older versions of watchOS.
