Oddly this afternoon I went to look at the time and the watch screen was blank, could not get it to turn on. Thought it was weird, it had worked fine all day It is actually one year and 4 days old and I have never had a problem with it and wear it every single day. So placed it on the charger, after about 15 minutes still nothing but now the watch is extremely hot so took it off the charger. My phone no longer shows data like charge for the watch and is not reading the watch.
Has anyone had a similar problem? I did purchase Apple Care which was the one and only time I have purchased for all my Apple products.
Not sure what to do, should I make an appointment at the Apple Store?

Have you tried to depress both the crown and the side button for at least 10 seconds ? Mine died from low battery and just wouldn't show anything on the screen even after being put on the charger for an hour but this trick switched it on.

Cheers !

No, you shouldn't make an appointment and instead allow the $49/59 you paid for AC+ to go to waste and be left with a dead watch.

Seriously, did you by any chance get a prompt on your AW showing the magnetic charging puck when you put it on the charger? If so, let it charge for longer and it should turn back on. If this happens, it means the battery was completely depleted. Otherwise, make the appointment.

Mine died yesterday too, but luckily is still under warranty. I took it off the charger after not wearing it Sunday because I was in the pool most of the day, so it was fully charged. Not more than 3 hours later I went to check the time and nothing.
I went to the Apple Store today and they were able to get it to show the on screen charging cable icon, but it would not power on. The Genius said the operating spec is that it should power on within 15 min. They're sending it out for service to see what's wrong with it and fix it/replace it. I was a little disappointed they don't stock replacements, but I guess with all of the different varieties that's not too practical. Oh well. I'm just happy the warranty was still in effect.

That's not really the reason as they only needed to stock the watch body itself and there aren't as many variations in AW body only as some of the iDevices. It's unknown why they've elected not to stock white box replacements for AW, in contrast to all iDevices to date.
