I have a friend who ordered a DVD from Europe that is obviously PAL format. When he received it he went to play it and it obviously does not work. I told him I would try to rip/burn a backup copy for him that he could view here in North America. I have used RipIt from the little App Factory to get a VIDEO_TS folder, then used DVD2ONEX to burn it to a disk. Problem is, it still does not play. Is there something that I am doing wrong? I am assuming that the VIDEO_TS folder is still telling it that it is in PAL format. The backup copy plays fine on my Mac (infact, it doesn't even ask me to change regions like it does if I play the original).

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The DVD spec requires that all PAL players can also play NTSC, but the reverse isn't true. Your friend should check the specs of the player and see whether it has PAL support.
