My wife and I are always watching movies or youtube videos in bed from the iPad Air or my Macbook Pro 15".

However, the speakers on the iPad Air are not good, especially when we want to watch a movie or something. The Macbook Pro's speakers are decent, but it would be nice to be able to get a couple wireless speakers on our nightstands to get better sound.

Does this exist? I know there's airplay and bluetooth and wireless speakers out there, but I've read some reviews that all of these don't necessarily work that well with movies - and are more for music. I read a couple Sono's play reviews saying the same thing.

Any ideas on what we can do? Do any wireless speakers let you watch movies (or any sound) that comes from idevices?

Jambox by JawBone

Bluetooth and works really well.

The issue with movies is that there can be a noticeable delay in the audio if it's being sent through bluetooth, so the audio and video might be a little out of sync. It's not a sure thing -- I use my travel BT speakers to watch movies, and don't notice any trouble.

Also, there are video player apps that can adjust the audio sync (It's Playing Pro is one of them), so if there was a delay issue, this would fix it for your non-drm, non-Netflix, etc. content.

I suggest get a unit and try it out. They have some really compact ones with plenty good enough sound.

I have been using the Bose Soundlink 2 for a while now and it's a great speaker. Great connectivity, nice and loud, NO issues at all. It's expensive but I believe I got what I paid for with it. The battery is pretty good too and it charges quickly.

Check one out, it's Bluetooth. I use it all the time and it just works. No skipping or delays that I've ever seen.

+1 Awesome speaker!

The UE Boombox sounds great and works wonderfully with all iDevices, music and movies, no A/V sync issues, highly recommended.

Bose Soundlink Mini. Really great sound and bass from such a tiny speaker.

Amazon Echo a smart speaker and must have to every family.

I've just picked up an Anker SoundCore 2 BT speaker which is small (easily portable for travelling etc), pretty cheap at £45 and has great sound quality. 24 battery life as well if that matters to you. Was using it for listening to a movie last night and works very well for that purpose.

any decent bt speaker will do the job, depending on your price range and (if any) preferences in sound or speaker brand

I'm having Dali Katch, and loooove the way it sounds

I'm quite sensitive to audio delays and seem to spot them even when they're very small - I'm yet to find a BT speaker that I'm happy with for video.

I had the same issue with headphones until I got a pair of AirPods - I'm guessing that could be something to do with the W1 chip?
If so maybe Beats do a speaker with it in?

EU Boom2 speakers are great. 99€ on Amazon. Nice design with different colors, totally waterproof, easy to carry and a great sound.
They can work in stereo if you buy 2. I use them to listen music.
