Its a dumb question, but when videos are being played on the XS Max (YouTube for example) - is there a way to actually make it full screen? I have black bars on both sides. I wish I could make the videos in full screen. Is this possible? Or does the XS Max not capable of allowing that?

Can't zoom in YouTube videos. The big long screen on the max isn't used fully on YouTube. Surprise!

I haven’t ran across any apps that are optimized yet for the max screen. Pinch to zoom in YouTube doesn’t seem like a permanent solution.

Been like that for every phone with the wonky length for over a year now. Not just Apples but all Samsung’s and LG phones.

Content creators are the ones that need to adopt the new 18:9 ratio. For example you can watch Jonathan Morrison tech youtuber who does take advantage of the new ratio.

the ratio for x / xs / xsmax is 19.5:9 so even if people make content in 18:9 it will still no be full (notched) screen.

yeah but my experience is that its cropping, making top and bottom of the picture go away. Reason being the lame ratio of 19.5:9. who came up with that ratio anyways, what happened to 18:9.

Whatever the ratio is.. I see full screen with certain YouTubers posts.

When you view a 16:9 video on the Max and use pinch to zoom, you’ll lose almost 25% of the original content by doing so.

A 16:9 video on the Max is 5.53” diagonal, a 1% increase in area over the 8 Plus. This is why I’m holding off on grabbing a Max. Now 21:9 content is a completely different story but most videos are still 16:9 aspect ratio. Go watch Jonathon’s latest XS reviews that are filmed with a 19:5.9 aspect ratio to fit the new iPhones.

I'm more concerned that most videos I watch on my Xs have judder problems.. I'm not sure what's causing it but I never had any judder/stutter video problems on any previous LCD iPhones. Not all videos i've watch exhibit the judder issue but it appears to be related to 24p content.. Like Dave2D on Youtube I believe uses 24p and you will see lots of judder issues.. confirmed by others and personal friends to have the same issue on Max as well.

Yep same problems here esp newer movies like infinity war look so bad it’s unwarchable with all the judder almost makes me notion sick to watch it. I really hope this is software and not a hardware problem seem to only happen with the iPhones that have the won’t charge bug while in standby mode. Some have it some don’t mine is one of them however my wife’s don’t do it same phone xsmax 512gb gold att model. Very strange

LOL...It's like having those top and bottom bezels. It's sad Apple didn't optimize the screen fully for both photos and videos. :DWhy bother getting the Max when it acts like a Plus?:D

Now that's very interesting if another same exact phone/model doesn't do it - but one does. It could be a software glitch where the screen is having a hard time showing native 24p and gets stuck on 60p mode. Just like some TVs can do these days. I just know that mine judders badly with any 24p content and it perfectly smooth with 30fps or 60fps content.
