Seems I’ll be keeping the Series 4 another year. Wow, by the time I will replace it in 2024, I will have had it for 6 years.
I’m still rocking a series 4. I’ll upgrade eventually, but I can still wait a bit longer. Hopefully by then they’ll have actually updated processors, an actual space grey version, and who knows, maybe more useful sensors (there’s a history of diabetes in my family, so if j’y any chance there is some sort of glucose monitoring, it’d be an easy sell)If all I'm lacking with my Series 7 is golf and tennis swing detection I'm fine with that. We'll see if they manage to pack any new sensors or power efficiency into this year's.

The Series 6, 7 and 8 are. So it looks like Apple means the Series 4 and 5 may not get all of the new features of WatchOS 10.Aren’t they all essentially using the same processor between the models?
Not if you want to find another “incentive” to push people to upgrade their phones.Requires iPhone XS or newer. Really!?!? Doesn't affect me as I have a 14, but that seems a little silly.
Yeah, it sure is complicated. Even if they came out with something that could just say that it’s going up or down without a quantitative measure would be a good start.I’m no expert in either but apparently non-invasive glucose monitoring is right up there with self driving in terms of difficulty, in that it’s theoretically possible but no one can do it up to the safety standards required yet, and it’s not clear when that could happen. I hope to be proven wrong but that alone would be a huge, market changing addition.
Other than that, compared to Series 5 and earlier the screen on 6 and up is a huge improvement. I really noticed going from a 5 to a 7.
Are there any substantial rumors for the next watch?
Almost - the Series 4, 5 and 1st gen SE use a dual core processor based on the efficiency cores from the A12. The Series 6, 7, 8 and 2nd gen SE use a dual core processor based on the efficiency cores from the A13. Really there has only been 1 generation of chip advancement in the last 4 years.Aren’t they all essentially using the same processor between the models?
My wife’s Series 4 40mm had terrible battery life so she upgraded last year. My 44mm is creaking along now and the battery is starting to become an issue, especially because I’ve been really active losing weight. I wanted to wait for Ultra 3 but will probably end up getting Ultra 2.My S4's will survive another year...unexpected, but sweet.
If I was a S4 owner, I’d be concerned about the lack of memory on the device and how large this update is.Cool to see S4 being still supported. I hope this watch does not turn into S3 after getting WatchOS10.
I was actually expecting a complete design overhaul.Such as what exactly?
