Has anyone else seen message notification stop working on a watchOS 10 and / or a Series 8? I get notifications for nearly everything else, but it seems messages (so far confirmed iMessages) no longer come through.

Have tried toggling settings and confirming settings are configured to notify me on my watch. Nothing works. Even reminder notifications (+ 2 minutes) do not come through.

Did you try restarting the Watch?

I encountered something rather bizarre today and didn't realize all it needed as a restart. So I have an Ultra and the Action button is set up so that the first press opens Workout, then after I select the type of workout and I press Action button again, it's supposed to then start the workout I had chosen.

Well, the second press of the Action button did not do this. Instead, it just re-opened the Workout app. I thought at first that this was a really odd behaviour and perhaps this is what WatchOS 10 intends to do. Later, I decided to restart the Watch and the second press of the Action button is now working as expected.

Try restarting?

Appreciate the suggestions. Have tried restarting both devices independently and test, no change. Tried restarting them simultaneously, no change.

And now just sitting here, I got an iMessage notification. Seems extremely inconsistent.

I’ve noticed this today. Not getting notifications for the messages. I’m on Apple Watch 8 as well.

My contacts are coming up as their phone number instead of name. Anyone seeing that?

I noticed also that some notifications weren't coming to my watch . I went to the app on iPhone and changes messages , mail , reminders from " Mirror phone" to custom and turned on everything on .

Tested sending myself mail and message from my husbands phone and all seems back in order now .
 Watch 7

EDIT : It wasn’t enough .. see #11 ;-))

Reset your watch , I just did it and it works fine now with the custom settings

2 days later I gota message saying "your apple watch is now using iMessages". I did nothing.

So far the problem ive had with Watch iOS 10 on my Series 8 is when i do get a message from a contact it reverts back to showing only their telephone number when in the Messages app on the Watch and not their contact name as per usual.
I have to restart the Watch to fix this issue but its only temporary as after a few messages incoming it reverts back to showing numbers instead of contact name :/

This bug continues extremely intermittently. And is super annoying. Works perfectly fine for half the day and then randomly starts.

If I was not sitting in front of my Mac, I would not see certain messages.

So far after having reset all settings on my phone it seems to be working . We'll see tomorrow 🤞🏻

EDIT : Still working this morning… but I’m not holding my breath 🤨

The issue I'm having is notifications not going to my AirPods Pro. This was working in watchOS 9 by having music downloaded locally to the Watch. You'd play that, and then as you were working out, the notifications would come in. They'd also seem to work if you just had AirPods connected but not listening to anything. But it seems to be broken again in watchOS 10. Whether I've got music playing locally or I'm just using the Workout app with nothing playing but AirPods connected, nothing. The notifications don't play.

I have noticed today something curious. Individual message notifications come to my watch. OTOH group messages do not 😳

Has anyone here experienced the same ?

Just to make it clear , I have not silenced notifications from the group.

Problem I’m having is that if I read a text message (green) on my phone and delete it, the watch still shows an unread message on the complication. Restarting clears it, but that’s a hassle. Need to try to remember to always read them on the watch, I guess.

watchOS in general doesn't seem to sync messages properly. Messages I read and delete entirely via macOS or iOS still show up on my Watch.

Having this issue creep back up again this morning. Restarting the Apple Watch is a temporary 24 hour fix.

watchOS 10.1 does not fix this. Installed this morning, few minutes later still having the issue. Reboot the watch, fixes the issue.

If anything, it seems watchOS 10.1 made the situation even worse. Now a simple watch restart does not resolve the issue.
