WatchOS 10: "Now playing" not working with Audible

I've noticed that "Now Playing" doesn't work when I'm listening to Audible on my iPhone. The Now Playing app doesn't automatically launch on the watch to control the stream. It works fine with Youtube Premium, Youtube Music or Apple Music.

Has anyone else noticed this?

The Audible app is a wreck in general. Lately when I hit play it just sits there, running a “waiting” animation around the button until I force quit the app. And the Watch app still doesn’t auto-launch “Now Playing”, nor keep it open if you launch it manually.
