I’m enjoying Live Activities in watchOS 11. I’m watching an MLB game and every time someone scores, the TV app on the phone sends a notification and updates the tile in the Smart Stack on the watch.

Next I need to turn off the phone entirely and see if it still works.

Installed on my Ultra 1, so far no issues.

Edit: Actually, unlocking my Mac on public release Sonoma 14.5, the distance it triggers and opens the Mac is further away than before.

Footpath does an excellent job already. Their subscription model is very fair, you can subscribe for one month, 3€ or so.
Was very happy with it.
How does it work if you have a run active in the Workout app? Does it run in the background or?

Now playing complication is broken. Not showing what’s playing on phone, just offers a “suggested” complication. Hope this is fixed in beta 2.

It has two modes: As a running app where it records all data. Or only routing and a second app (eg Apple Training) does the recording. Always used the latter and it is great.

Sounds great - will give it a try. I actually already have the app on my phone for measuring a route once in a while.

The route function on Strava is pretty good - would love to be able to draw and save a route (as is possible now) and push it to my Apple Workout app. They could do a collab here, now that Strava basically has left it's Apple Watch app for ages without updates.

EDIT: Okay just used footpathapp.com to draw a route and could push it to the watch - this is amazing - sorry for hijacking the thread - but this makes the wait for the integration easier

When you play music it will no longer show a full screen player on the watch, and instead shows the widget instead. Much prefer this. You can still see the full screen player by going to the music app.

Navigation and maps is super clunky.
Basically, you can download offline maps to your watch through maps now. But, there is no current integration with the workouts app that I have found yet. They work as two different independent silo'd apps. You can create your own routes and save them in a folder in maps called "Routes". Once you click on them, it goes into the typical Apple Maps navigation experience as if you were walking to a location, any time before. It's fine, but nothing new, and certainly not integrated.
Apple Maps team doesn't seem to be talking to Apple Workouts team.
There is lots of room for improvement at this point.

But, we do have offline maps. So that is a start! Some details are just plain wrong, like elevations of routes, but I am sure those things will be fixed in time.
no integration of maps to workout app has been announced.
but it will be available in apps that rely on MapKit !
so it will probably be available in YouRace !!

Sounds pretty good - so the only app missing it will be the native one :-D

You now get the water temperature when using the swimming workout and it also shows on the workout summary at the bottom.

These little refinements honestly have me more excited than any new features.

I think they removed the Siri watch face. Which kinda makes sense, the widgets when you scroll down and the live activities serve the same purpose.
It does make sense to a point, but the Siri watchface was suppose to update with relevant information. The widgets are locked in place, and there is no new information added and placed differently. I didn't use the Siri wf because it never really updated like it should, but the idea was great. Have to think Apple AI with new Siri played a big role in this going away. Would not be the least bit surprised if there was a new Siri face with the new watches in September that brings together the new AI stuff.

Original Ultra - battery life has been better or the same as with iOS 10. I didn't expect that from Beta 1. Also got to test the handoff at the gym of Music playing from the Watch to APP's and it's seamless. Phone left behind in locker. This was a major PIA in OS10 beta 1-3 or 4.

Honestly, if I didn't knowingly install 11, I would not have even know it wasn't 10. Not a huge change in functionality or UI.
