Just upgraded an ultra 1, and the explorer watch face I was using was changed to infographic and the explorer watch face is no longer an option in n the face gallery.

But it was to the OP! ✅

Perhaps to others, too. I'd drop a line to Apple's Watch feedback web page and let 'em know. It's the pits when something one relies on is pulled out from under them!

Was this an all-time low with new watch faces? Zero! Just an adjustment of the photo-watch face. Guess they will launch something with the Ultra 3, but at least a couple of new faces could be nice
I think they started the trend last year with the Ultra Modular face that new hardware would be the release of new faces. I don't love that, but I guess it pushes sales of new devices. People see the watch face on the new watch and it creates excitement. I know I was pumped when my Ultra 1 got the Ultra Modular. I said it then, and I will say it now, its best Face Apple has added to the Apple Watch.

Definitely provide feedback. At the same time, I encourage you to look into making the jump to the Wayfinder face, though. It's almost the same as Explorer, but allows for additional complications.

Wow, that is disappointing, that is one of my main watch faces.

There's definitely both on the Ultra 1, running v10.5; Explorer and Wayfinder (English names). Photo below. Tried to make them as similar as possible, minus the date, because I can't not have the date :)

I try that face on occasion. I prefer the black background with lighter arms for lack of a better way to describe it. If I could change the hands from blue, yellow or orange to white or t would probably work with my brain. I probably will just try it again.

I’m also hoping the Siri face gets refreshed with the live activity improvements.

Explorer Watch face definitely dropped on WatchOS 11. Was my favorite watch face for years. Liked its simplicity, the red hands, and a middle lower complication instead of a lower right and lower left. I wish there was a good substitute but there is not as far as I can tell.

Gutted!

I really liked the Explorer and Siri watch faces, especially on my Ultra as the slight increase in screen size to me made them pop a bit more than in the standard size watches.

What was the point of getting rid of them really?

The new ones (replacements) don’t really appeal to me. But I will give them a try.

But as I said I’m pretty disappointed with this decision.

Hey Folks,

just after updating my Apple Watch 7 LTE I noticed my favorite Watch face is just gone? I used the LTE only watchface since first day (the one with the red hour and seconds pointer and the green cellular points on top.

I can’t find it in the watch faces gallery.

Is it gone? Or is it a bug?

I really liked Explorer as well and I'm also disappointed to see it vanished from my watch and was replaced with Infograph. I sent feedback through Apple's website at https://www.apple.com/feedback/watch/

I found that the red hands were easier to read in always-on mode than many other faces.

Yes for me out of all the analog faces it was the most real watch like.

Some of the other analog ones look a bit too computer generated.

It is gone with new watch os. Several others according to 9to5 Mac article.

Removing the Explorer face in Watch OS11 is sad. I can think of quite a few others that should be removed.
It was the only face I had that showed cellular signal on the face.
