No they are just going to reset the Watch and send your old one back.. I had it done a few weeks back to a series 0 Watch
Not if you have AppleCare+ with express replacement, where you get a new watch and return the old one in exchange.

All good here, updated took around 45 minutes. But if it had bricked, there's a very good chance I would have demanded a refund, and not bothered replacing it.

WOW! Thanks God I got over it well.... I have a Series 2 Sports.
Did the update yesterday successfully but form now on I will be paying double attention to this.
I will wait for others to perform the update.

I wonder if this happens when you are out of Apple Care - does Apple handle these things or I need to pay?

Guessing people got impatient and took them off the charger or worse forced restart them. It can take up to an hour to update your watch...
That is why I did my before bed. Was done with no problems when I woke up.

And Apple wants to make a car. Ha ha ha ha ha ha
You Bricked your Car.
Please send it back via airlines so we can send you a replacement - updated failed.

Apple updates Car OS with new Car Crash Emojis.

Your car needs an iPhone 9 to install the update.

To unlock your car you need the latest Apple Watch Series 4 Ceramic only.

The new Apple Car has only USB C connectors and a TouchBar instead of a steering wheel.

mine was bricked 2 weeks ago with one of the betas and today it have returned (it is a replacement indeed). But now it have 3.1 and it say is up to date, Have apple remove the watchOS 3.1.1 update?

Same thing here. I didn't get around to trying to install the update until just now, and now when I try it says my watch is up to date despite having 3.1. Wonder if 3.1.1 got pulled...

Tried updating now, and it seems like it got pulled... as mine says it's up-to-date. Oh well... rather have it right than not. Thanks!

yes it was pulled for sure, in fact I watched the update to show and hide at least 3 times and now is not showing up. And yes better to have it ok than other 2 weeks without watch....

Can something 2.5oz be a brick? ;)

I actually think it's the new Apple Watch Paperweight feature. ;)

I wonder if the code was left out at a controlled ambient temperature for too long causing the files to corrupt faster than expect?

Actually, 10.11.6 bricked my 2007 iMac. I can boot it into recovery mode, and it can download the 10.11.1 installer, but it can't actually run that installer (it crashes around 40 minutes into it). None of the diagnostic tools in recovery mode say that anything is wrong.

At this point, I'm thinking I want to try getting some home pictures and videos from the hard drive (hopefully the terminal can access the files and copy them over to an external drive via USB), then I'll wipe the drive and reinstall Yosemite from a disc that I'm having mailed to me... and that'll be the final OS for my iMac. Not going to try the disaster of El Capitan again. Sometime next year I'll replace the iMac... and it may not be with another Apple computer given Apple can't seem to do anything right anymore.

If you have a bootable backup then boot into it and install from there, you could also startup in target disk mode and install from another Mac, or, install a fresh copy on an external disk (USB stick) and install from that one.

I have two SS series 2. The first one updated fine but god it was slow. The second one wont update as it says that it is up today on 3.1 so i think they have pulled the update.

Apple support say that have no record of the update being pulled

It certainly bricked my Apple Watch, sigh. Usually not a big deal other than I have to deal with Apple now. A week to get into the genius bar, and likely another week to get it fixed.

Call Apple support and they will send a box, and then you will send to Apple. this is something they can't fix on Genius Bar
