I am on Watch is 4.1 beta 1 and my usage and standby time are the same idk if it’s a beta bug or my watch but it seems like something is draining my battery life since both usage and standby should not be the same and I haven’t had this issue before until I got on WatchOS 4.1 beta 1. I have also tried restarting my watch to see if it fixed it and it still had the same issue. Anyone else having this issue or have any suggestions on how to fix it for me or any battery tips I should try to fix it let me know please

It’s a beta, you shouldn’t expect any beta to have good battery life, Apple is running heavy diagnostics subsystems to learn from everyone’s usage and a beta OS has not been optimized for battery life.

But why are my usage and standby times the same when I haven’t changed anything on my watch from when I was on WatchOS 4.0 and I am on series 2 if that makes any difference

Oh sorry reread the query again, best answer is that it’s beta and things can be broken on beta including usage stats, I wouldn’t worry about it, best you can do is submit a radar to Apple so they know about it if they don’t already.

I'm on beta 1, and have not really noticed much of a battery drain with 4.1 vs. 4.0. Here's my usage:

Watch is currently at 79%

I’m on 4.1 ... today I left home at 6:30 and got back home close to 7pm ... I was still at 82% ... didn’t make calls but checked txt messages, went on LTE a couple times ... and “dinged” all day ... pretty impressive

Try hard resetting the watch, it has worked for me when the beta's act up, if that does not work unpair and repair.

I'm running a series 0, all of the os4 beta's gave me better battery life than os3.

My watch is Series 1

I rest, unpair and re-pair today. It did not help. I have the same usage and standby time.

I have a similar issue with watchos 4.1 beta 1. Battery drains like crazy. I checked my usage; just showed dashes for usage and standby, but that might be because I did a hard reset.

I normally wear the watch to bed, starting at 100%, and it normally (under watchOS3) drains to about 92% after about 8 hours, when I wake. Now it drains to about 40 to 50% by the time I wake, so even with theater mode and dnd turned on, it's doing something far more draining when idle. Probably since it's a beta 1, Apple's' doing some crazy debug/telemetry, or just has some bugs. It should improve with the next beta (when/if that comes.) I'm hoping 4.1 public release is out in the next month or two.

I have a series 2. Seems like some series 3 changes had a negative impact on series 1 and 2? I have been kicking myself for upgrading to this beta. I'm half inclined to just sell it on ebay, and buy the series 3, and promise myself never to install a WatchOS beta ever again.

After a hard reset the other day my battery life on 4.1b1 is pretty much the same as 4.0 - down to around 70% at the end of the day. However, usage and standby times are identical. I assume that it's just a bug in the beta.

Apple announced music streaming is coming out this month, so I expect the final release to happen in the next few weeks!

Good point! Thank goodness. I can't wait.

My watch last night drained from 100% to 2% by the time I woke up, with DND and Theater mode on, Background App Refresh turned off. So, I have no idea what it was doing, but it drains fast.

In another thread, I'd read that simultaneously hard resetting phone and watch fixed the problem, so I just tried that. I also noticed that Workout/Detect Gym Equipment was turned on. I'm not even sure if that option was available in 4.0 public, so here's hoping that will have been most? of the problem. We'll see.

Beta 4.1 is the worst of all the betas so far from watch OS4. There's some seriously nasty bugs underlying here and I'm a bit shocked more bricked watches haven't been reported on this forum. I'm sure beta 2 will fix a lot of them but there are quite a few big ones which are battery draining. App installing is a really bad one, not to mention the mystery Apple defaulted applications not allowing usage. I've reported 21 bugs so far in this current beta vs the 63 in all the testing I did for OS4 betas over the summer.

Well, so far so good. The watch battery remaining percentage hasn’t moved at all over the last hour, despite wearing it, and using it intermittently. Still have theater mode & DND on, and background app refresh off, though, but promising.

I hard reset my watch again this morning. Now it’s working great. About 50% of battery life after 12 hours.
