Updated my new Apple Watch Series 4 to WatchOS 5.0.1 yesterday. Today I walked for 4 hours, climbing an 800ft rock formation, an the Activity Rings showed no movement or exercise and only 15 minutes of standing. All was working fine before the update.

Anyone else having similar issues or a suggestion to get the rings working correctly again?

Not experiencing this issue, but my watch came with 5.0.1 preinstalled. Maybe something in the update process went wrong?

No... its a well known issue. Apple made some adjustments and in my opinion it's horrible but we will have to wait for update. After 5.0.1 my s2 and s4 are having same issues.

I won't start my own thread on this now. But, on 5.0.1 the Activity Ring screen freezes when I open the App. Takes a short time for me to be able to scroll down. I can close and reopen and it works. Also, not getting full credit for Indoor Walk time. Restarted watch a couple times. Have not unpaired/repaired yet. Last resort---

With 5.0 my AW4 was awarding way to much and I was closing rings way early. 5.1 addressed this, maybe too far?

Not for me. Better than 5.0, but 5.01 is still higher than OS 4.
However at one time Apple reduced it, potentially between OS 2 and 3.

To the OP, I would recommend hard reboot on watch and phone and see if it fixes it.
At least move ring should go forward with 4 hours walking no matter the speed.

If it doesn’t move after reboot, you may need to replace the watch.
