I think this is for when you DON’T have your phone nearby. If you do, why not just connect to WiFi thru your phone as it shares the WiFi with the watch automatically?
Because it never worked on my Series 2. My wifi works on every device

See below comment.
See my reply..wifi on my watch never worked on my s2 but did on my s0. Somehow, it just doesn't get wifi info from my phone. I have no issue connecting to wifi with any other devices.

I would use this feature every single day. At home I want to force my iPhone to connect to 5ghz only and can't because I want my watch to be able to connect to wifi.

That's somewhat arrogant. No, it is not rare at all. I have had a RADAR ticket open for years with Apple about this. I (and several friends, FWIW), have separated 2.4G and 5G networks at home due to Apple's *stupid* wifi hunting algorithm sometimes sticking to 2.4G slow networks. It has been insane that my watch can't get on WiFi because my phone is on the 5G network and Apple, also stupidly, doesn't support 5G on the watch. So I, and friends, *VERY* much appreciate this option appearing.

I know context is hard but I was clearly responding to someone's post about how cumbersome it is to enter a complex password on the watch. How often will you and your several friends be entering the password for your 2.4ghz SSID? Once. The first time you connect it.

I had no idea this was an issue I was experiencing until reading this post. I have separate 2.4 and 5G networks, of which, my iPhone is only connected to one. I suppose this would explain my terrible Siri performance when I’m not near my phone at home.

Anyone else noticed HTML email showing on WatchOS 5 (pic). I hope it doesn’t stay like this. Some have such tiny text it’s unreadable.

The Series 0 is ridiculously underpowered. Apple realized that later on and began replacing broken Series 0 models with Series 1. But I guess you got your replacement before they started doing that

I am now on my FOURTH Watch Lol. Got replaced 3 times since I first got it in June 2015.

All 3 times the screen randomly separated from the Watch case. Each time it was replaced with a Series 0, never a Series 1 or 2.

They said if it happens again they’ll replace it with a Series 3.

I can’t believe it’s taking them this long to replace it with a newer model.

It has never worked for my S2. It worked prior for my S0 though.

Anyone know if this works for series 1 yet please?

At the gym I leave my iPhone at home but it sees the gym WiFi but can't connect, I did previously with iPhone here.

This would mean I could turn connect to the gym WiFi with no iPhone? If so that's a killer feature for me. Means could still get calls or texts at gym with no iPhone.

If won't work with series 1 I'll upgrade to a 2 or 3 (or 4 when arrives!)

Thanks
