it seems Apple likes to tinker each year... last year WatchOS clearly boosted the calorie burn associated with movement, i had to instantly boost my goal 15% to avoid making it too easy when i upgraded to watchOS 5 (saw this behavior on an S3 and S4 watch) and there were some threads here about it. the exercise ring in watchOS 5 stayed the same or perhaps it got a little harder for movement to trigger exercise time outside of a defined workout.
as for watchOS 6 there is once again a clear change in the formulas after i updated my S4 since launch day a week ago. the exercise ring is FAR easier to have time triggered by movement, just walking around a bit here and there even in short bursts in a store etc. that would have NEVER triggered logging of exercise minutes now does. i find myself without trying closing the exercise ring even without my normal logged workouts. the movement ring seems to have taken a SLIGHT boost in calories again, not as much as last year, but still more. again it is growing easier to complete the ring and I'll likely have to up the goal again.
i have no problem if Apple is making the watch more accurate / sensitive but i find it curious each year when the way the watch views movement, calories, exercise and more seems to change.
