Where did you get this info from?A shame for the blood oxygen detection you must buy the Apple Watch Series 6 .I was really hoping that it was coming in WatchOS 7.

probably as long as it's fast enough to support updates, I would imagine. series 3 was a big improvement over earlier watches. Technology rolls on

That doesn't sound right, sounds like Dexcom needs to hire a few programmers. I use cardiogram to monitor heart 24/7, it updates a whole lot more than 288 times a day
I think you've missed my point. Yes I know it will be an AW6-only feature as I've said, but my point was that it shouldn't be as the hardware is already within existing series. If there is SpO2 monitoring, it will be introduced with the Apple Watch 6, not at WWDC
I'm curious... So one massive benefit I have from using an Apple Watch unfortunately needs to take advantage of a loophole. Watch Apps cannot update complications on screen automatically more than a few times a day. I wear a Dexcom to monitor interstitial sugar, with reading sent to the app every five minutes. Dexcom has a complication for apple watch, but impossible for it to update 288 times a day... so you're often opening the app on the watch, which is just a time waster.
So, I have another app that takes the Dexcom readings, publishes them to an iCloud calendar every five minutes, then I have the calendar complication always show on my watch to get around this restriction. The downside is that at some point, the calendar will refuse to update on the phone after about the 24 hour mark, requiring a phone reboot once a day.
I kind of get why Apple has the restriction... to preserve battery life as much as possible, but for me, its an override I really wish I could have for an app of my choosing.
Seems like a reason to hold off until Series 6 most likely in the fall. Unless you're a developer and want to test now. Wife and I have series 4 models and will likely replace in the spring. Usually buy at best buy when they have them on sale in the March/April time frame.Checks family Apple Watch inventory....
Wife's Watch Series 0 replaced with Series 5 last Christmas
Daughter's (non-functional) Apple Watch Series 1 replaced for a Series 3 for birthday/good grades
I'm wearing....a Series 2. Oh dear.
Every time I try downloading the WatchOS profile from the Developer site I get the error "An unknown error occurred."
The benefit of using the calendar is two fold... When in your car, that data can always be visible on the multi-app display typically showing map, music and calendar in CarPlay. That way I've got at least a larger screen in the car to see that data easily. Might not be a big need for many, but the few of us that rely on it... very helpful.that’s a great hack! impressed
Nonsense. My Series 0 is still running wOS 3 and it still works. Slowly, but thats wOS3's fault.so I guess my Series 1 is not good now, huh?
I use mine to tell me when to breath. I'd be in a world of hurt without it.Nonsense. My Series 0 is still running wOS 3 and it still works. Slowly, but thats wOS3's fault.
I use it for a sleep tracker and some workouts.
I thought the sameIf you use your Apple Watch all day as most people do, can someone explain to me how you're going to do sleep tracking? When do you charge the battery?

I track my sleep every night. Watch takes 75 minutes roughly for full charge. Lasts 24h easily after the charge including 160mins of workout tracking daily. Find an hour to charge it anywhere in the day and you are fine. For me that is usually in the morning immediately after my workout when I sit down to begin my work day.
This is with an AW5 with all default features on including the AOD
That's a great question. I'm glad you asked. If you use your Apple Watch all day as most people do, can someone explain to me how you're going to do sleep tracking? When do you charge the battery?

It's usually at 20-25% when I put it on the charger so that is probably why my estimate is lower than what Apple is saying.Really? According to Apple itself, the Series 5 Apple Watch takes 2.5 hours for a full charge, or 1.5 hours for an 80% charge.

My Series 2 has slowed down a lot over the past year... it doesn’t have much space left and I don’t install anything on it.Series 1/2 under watchOS6 should still be supported under iOS14, though not sure why anyone would put themselves through that type of punishment. Those watches were always slow in comparison to Series 3 and above.
