Hi gang.
I can confirm the latest watchOS 8.1 and iOS updates did not rectify the problem.
I did notice I have a person using text message (not iMessage) and the syncing with that person is worse than the ones using iMessage. But it is happening with all messages.
Hopefully there is a fix soon - and “get a newer watch” isn’t a reasonable solution, Apple.

Has anyone seen these type of issues on any other forums (ex. Apple communities or Reddit) or just a regular search on google?

It’s been over a month and nothing has gotten any better, just worse.

I think I’ve found a temp “fix” to this. I created a total new group chat and that seems to fix the issue. Idk what was wrong with the previous group chat, but whatever ?

I'm having this happen with messages and on other apps as well. I have a notification that shows when my garage door opens and closes and while setting in my living room the myQ app says garage door just opened and in fact it was from about 30 mins prior. I don't think it's isolated to just the messages app.

I agree. I see these delays with Text Messages, the Garage Door app, and the Apple Mail.

I'm finding that the delay is usually long enough that if I hear a notification on the phone and not the watch, I now pull out the phone to see what's going on. This delay makes the watch pretty useless for message notification purposes (i.e. A day late and a dollar short)...

I have not received the call I was promised from the Apple engineers. So they apparently don’t know what is going on.

Has anyone installed the new public beta that was just released? If so, was the issues resolved?

Thanks

Delay is still present. All software up to date across all products in which iMessage is enabled - watch, iPhone, iPad, Mac mini. Might try a process of elimination and disable iMessage on non-iPhone devices to see if it changes the behavior at all.

That’s unfortunate. It’s getting ridiculous. Did you update to the new beta?

Now I’m not getting alerted for new messages. I have to restart my watch daily at this point. watchOS 8 kinda sucks.

It’s been while… I am still experiencing the same issues but even more of a delay. Has anyone updated to the new beta? if so, any changes

thanks

From reading this thread, I've held off on updating my watch to OS8, but I must have clicked the agree button on the popup at some point because it installed last night. I don't know how this didn't come up in testing & why it's still unresolved, but man is the delay a hassle. I find that if I send a message, then I will get the messages that haven't come through, but I'm not sure how long the effect lasts. It's a real pain to get home from a run, only to find out that you missed a couple of texts.

It seems watchOS 8.3 has fixed the problem. Can anyone else confirm?
I believe it did.. only thing I noticed is when I receive a text I can’t view the entire conversation. When I click on the message it just displays that message only. Is that normal or something I never noticed?

Is anyone still having this problem? Only the text messages app notifications are delayed on my apple watch S7. Running iOS 16 beta 1 and Watch OS 9 beta 1. Both my girlfriend and I have been having the same issue, she’s running iOS 15.5 and Watch OS 8.6 with an apple watch S7 as well. It’s extremely frustrating and was hoping that updating to the developer betas would fix the issue and which in this case it hasn’t. I’ve tried unpairing and pairing, rebooting both devices and still nothing.
