Anytime Apple allows more voice connectivity I'm happy. This makes me hopeful that Apple will update/expand upon the Walkie Talkie feature. IMO, Walkie Talkie has so much potential. However, as it currently stands, the entire execution; from UI, to connecting, is very poor. Unfortunately, I'm thinking it's been forgotten, and Apple would need a snow shovel to remove the dust it has accumulated over the years. The only tiny hope I have is that expanding control/use of VoIP will allow more third parties to interact with the protocol and this will push more support for voice connectivity overall, not just VoIP. Having VoIP interact seamlessly back and forth from the iPhone and Watch is a step forward, and I can see a feature where the iPhone and Watch can have a Nextel type feature that could work as a quick intiial communication, and then connect to the other individual using the expanded VoIP or SIM. 🤞
