watchOS2 - Night Stand

Does anyone know if the Night Stand feature just works when the watch is on its side, like it was in the picture?

I hope it works when its on a stand and the correct way up.

Whats interesting about this is, It seems that Apple wants the watch on its side when charging, so if they ever came out with their own dock, it would have the watch lay down to use the Night Stand functionality.

I imagine that if Apple comes out with a dock it would have to be setup like the Watch Edition charging case so that the watch could sit on its side.
