iPod Water-damaged iPod... covered by Applecare?

All is not lost with your iPod. I've revived 2 ipods that were doused with soda.

My method - turn it off pronto, hit it with a hair dryer, then let it sit for about 4 days. With just water, you are lucky... it will just evaporate and not leave a residue.

Oh come on! The holier-than-thou attitude in this thread is laughable. OP, take your iPod to the Apple Store and see what you can do. If you can't tell it has been water damaged from the outside you might be in business.

Actually I did take it back and they didn't notice any water damage- and replaced it. But thank you for the encouragement!

I've admitted my mixed feelings over this- I was just trying to point out that likening it to murder is going a bit over the top.

As I say, does/should Apple have a guilty conscience over the iPods they've sold me which had a lifespan of less than three years; failed completely just outside of warranty and had to be disposed of because they're nearly impossible to repair...? Who's the real victim here! ME!*

*This is me being over the top now...

I tend to exaggerate a bit. I've done pretty bad things to take advantage of my warranty on my iPod before I sell them.

Find some of those moisture absorbers that come with various products, like in shoe boxes and electronic packaging. Put the iPod in a zipper freezer bag with the absorbers. They'll dry out your iPod and probably save it if when you say water you mean water, and not some other liquid.

I know a guy who once washed his iPod with his pants and apple said they would replace it.
