I've got my iphone 4 about 4 months ago, its a good phone, easy to use. However, I was fishing outside London and basically the iphone slipped out of my pocket into the river.

I was very fast to retrieve it , maximum 2 - 3 seconds under the water and i turned the phone off quickly.
Few hours later when I've got back to London, the iphone worked.

You are an extremely lucky individual. The iPhone 4 is in no way waterproof. Not even water resistant.

You turned it on a few hours later? If that happened to me, I think I would have turned off, and stick in a ziplock bag with rice for a week or 2 to make sure it's dry. You are very lucky. Glad it worked out for you.
