'Watermark' on night mode photos

Hello all,

I (along with most of the world it seems) took some Aurora images last weekend. I took most of them using Night mode and found on reviewing the photos that they have a strange concentric circle pattern/watermark at the centre of each. Now I've noticed it it's spoiled the images as I can't unseen it.

Has anyone noticed anything similar?

As far as I can tell they appear on the photos taken at 1x and not on any taken at 0.5x.

Camera lenses are clear and unmarked.

Any suggestions/help appreciated.

Thanks for the link - very interesting and just goes to prove that everyday is a school day!

That's exactly the issue I've seen with the photos I took. Curiously, images taken by friends (using a mix of iPhones and Android devices) didn't seem to exhibit this phenomenon at all. Guess I was unlucky.

The linked article appears to be talking about 'proper' cameras with separate lenses, UV filters and the like. None of which the iPhone has (at least in the same physical form) - but I assume that the effect can occur in any photography device where the light has a chance to bounce around (and interfere).

At least I know the camera/lens system in my iPhone aren't faulty.
