Wavy lines on LCD

I just got my Mac Pro w/ 8800 GT and I connected it to a 17" Samsung LCD (about 4 years old) while I wait for my ACD to arrive. I noticed a lot of small wavy lines on the display. Is this likely to be caused by my Mac Pro or the monitor? Or is there no way to tell until I get another monitor to test?
