Here's a SILENT ringtone.
Just Add a contact. Call it anything you want, like BLOCKED or DO NOT ANSWER or whatever. Then assign it this ringtone.
Thank you!

I am an iPhone newb, haven't logged on here in since first joining and did so today just for this reason.

How do I get the Silent.m4r file into my iPhone? I'd guess during sync of course, but where do I put it such that
1) Windows iTunes sync will grab it and
2) How to make the special ringtone appear on the iPhone Ringtones list.
I do understand how to assign the contact a special ringtone. My question is how to make the special silent ringtone appear on the iPhone Ringtones list.

I admit I have never felt compelled to ADD a custom ringtone to my iPhone.

But spam callers are so disruptive
My spammer is: 408-796-3146
What others are saying about that #:

I am already on the do not call list.

Any suggestions for how to get the Silent.m4r file into my iPhone as a ringtone?

Go to itunes folder
Create ringtones folder
copy .m4r file to itunes program
verify file is showing up in ringtones
sync ringtone to phone

I am glad I found this post on my Search. I can now add numbers as they come in. Also I have MetroPCS and they charge $1 per month to block calls & texts. But thanks for all your input on this post you just made my day.:)

iOS 7 has caller, messaging, and FaceTime blocking built-in, so that will help quite a bit with all of this, once iOS 7 is out a bit later this year.

I know this isn't a good thing but I never answer any calls that isn't in my contacts list.
Great idea about the silent ringtone :)

I will answer all calls, and if they start telling me something I do not want to here I will cuss them out till they hang up, Than I will call them back and give them some more. And if they text me, if I can text them back they will get a ear full. Than they get put on the silent ring list. :D

I am retired so I have time on my hands.:D

You can use a jailbreak app like iBlackList if your iPhone is jailbroken. Alternatively, you should be able to call your provider and have them block the number.

Very soon with iOS 7 it will be doable right on the phone by default.
