way to set up mac pro to not log off when certain items are running?

are here any sugestions or links to this subject?

i want to be able to encode my flicks at night while i sleep but it keeps logging off after a certain amount of time, and i wan to stream my movies to the ps3 without it loging of...

any way to set my mac pro up to do this :

WITHOUT changing my settings about loggoff in certain amunt of minutes or upon screen saver activation?
