You can't leave negative feedback as a seller. Not publicly. You can report them to Ebay, but that's it.

1. contact the buyer tell him USPS shows proof you received package.
2. tell him your contacting local police to make a claim against lost $200 or phone.
3. DO it all and ask to send you $200 back since he has both the $200 and iphone and its considered stolen.
4. if he truly did not receive iphone to also make a report of stolen item to the post office an police.

Well after investingating the eBay site, I find that you are in fact correct and I am absolutely wrong.

I SWEAR that I always see 3 choices after choosing to leave feedback fro my buyers: positive, neutral and negative. I did 7 of these yesterday and I'm telling you I saw three radio buttons for each with the 80 character text box. I guess negative is greyed out? As I said before I have never had any buying or sleeing issues on eBay over the last 11 years I have used it.

The form I was looking at earlier was for a purchase I made, not a sale.

Yeah it's been that way for awhile. :D

"Sellers have an easy way to report problems with buyers
Sellers can use the seller reporting hub to report an unpaid item, Feedback extortion, or any other problem with a buyer. eBay investigates all reports and will remove any negative or neutral Feedback that's in violation of eBay policy."

NO way would I have refunded the money when the USPS said it was delivered to the address.

You should also keep in mind that the only "negative feedback that's in violation of eBay policy" is feedback that contains threats or swears. If they say something like "did not receive item" or "item not as described" eBay will NOT remove that... even if you end up winning a claim.

That happened to me before eBay changed the seller feedback policy. A seller shipped something to me. I asked for a refund because it was grossly mis-represented... he ignored me. I left negative feedback, and he retaliated with negative feedback. I won a PayPal claim and got my money back but they said they could NOT remove the negative feedback he left me.

You screwed yourself on this one. eBay would have let you keep your $.

There was really only one issue going on here.

I was 100% confident the USPS insurance would cover me if the recipient did not receive the item... How can they offer insurance and not require a signature? The fact they require a signature for items OVER $200 means they do not want to be held liable for leaving a package on a doorstep and it getting stolen.

So, I filed my insurance claim. USPS said the claim would take over 4 weeks, so I refunded him his money (confident I would win my insurance claim) to avoid negative feedback in during the long wait till the insurance claim decision.

I've learned multiple lessons. USPS insurance is useless. Negative feedback is worth $200. And eBay has no protection for sellers.

Paypal asks that you add signature confirmation for items over $150. USPS insurance was great to me the only time I've ever actually needed it.

+1

Private/Small sellers can no longer leave negative feedback, allowing 'bad buyers' to use feedback as essentially blackmail. Also more buyers are unaware of Ebay policies and think that they can bid and commit but not pay, but can you leave neagtive feedback on them? Not anymore.

Anyhow, this is not an Ebay Rant thread lol

see that is why I wish Ebay would change to a double blind system. The fed backs are not put up until BOTH parties leave feed back or the time limit for leaving has expired. It annoys me because a lot of sellers would not leave feed back unless they got left positive. It was a double negative. You leave negative then both sides got it.

You forgot a bigger lesson here, which is failing to follow the proper procedures to make yourself eligible for Paypal seller protection.

It's required for items at least $250, not $150.

I'll be happy to leave a feedback as a seller after a successful transaction (after I move the money out of paypal), but many sellers wait in case the buyer files a dispute. They don't want to leave a positive feedback only to have the item disputed later.

I always wait until the item has been recorded as delivered by Royal Mail online before I leave feedback, not until the buyer leaves me feedback. I think that's the best way to do it personally, of course if there's a dispute with the item itself my method isn't the best.

I've noticed that many sellers actually leave feedback straightaway after receiving payment. I guess the loss of being able to leave negative feedback means you might as well leave good feedback now in hope the buyer will keep quiet if problems arrive after they've seen your wonderful remarks about them lol :D
