I like the idea of the 2 nano usb on the sides... 64 is a lot on each size and i like the footprint of them.. I would use them for movie storage.. Thanks for the info in this thread :D

not all flash memory is created equal. Some is faster than others. Class 10 just means that it is guaranteed to read/write >= 10 mb/s.

And only on sequential read/write as well. Random read/write will usually be even slower.

SD cards are literally the slowest thing you can use for long term storage, but they are also the most compact and portable. It really only works for documents, and only that if you can put up with the lag times an SD card will introduce.

If you can, more power to ya. But the slowest current laptop HDD will roast those things in transfer speeds. And the SSD in the MBA roasts laptop HDDs.

All the solutions posted are slow and limited.

You can't watch everything at once. Just rip it with handbrake and put on what you need for that week/day/month. Keep the rest on an external hard disk.

What's the point in keeping suff on your laptop that you have watched.

I stream all my music as I have 3G at around 4-7MBit wherever I go, or wifi. I will be using iTunes match when it comes out and I only keep the movies I'm interested in watching on my laptop.

Isn't USB used to communicate with the SD card reader? or has that changed with the SDXC card readers?? Because if it is USB then those 90mb/s cards will never actually work at 90mb/s but more like 35-40mb/s.

I understand the SD slot is still internally connected as USB, it'll always be slow no matter how fast the card is.

Box.net is doing a promotion right now where if you sign up, you get 50GB free cloud storage. That's kind of a crazy amount without having to pay.

It won't work for some users, but if the cloud is a doable option for you, this is definitely worth checking out. I signed up and got the storage, but have yet to actually use any of it, but it looks like a Dropbox clone essentially.
