Yes, this. The only reason I use my car stereo's built in GPS system instead of Waze is I don't want to futz around with my cellphone while I'm driving. My car stereo's GPS is tied in to the traffic info sent via Sirius/XM satellite radio so it's smart enough to re-route me if traffic jams are reported. If my stereo had CarPlay though, I'd expect Waze to work through it.

Make this available on CarPlay

I have various models of iPhone and iPad for testing, running everything from iOS 7 to iOS 9.

It has been around a year since ANY release of Waze would even launch, on ANY of my devices--even after a delete and fresh install (so it's not an issue with my Waze account). Immediate crash to home screen.

Too bad, it used to have its uses for me.
A friend of mine had this same issue on his Android phone, and I signed him in on my iPhone, he cleared his message cache notifications and then was able to sign in on his Android once again. Might work if you can find an Android phone to log into, clear alerts, and sign back in on your iPhone.

Apple did bid on Waze. Google outbid them. Also Apple wanted the team to move overseas to the US. They weren't interested in leaving their families and community to go abroad.

What?!?? Who doesn't want to move to the greatest country in the history of the world?? :p

I've always been curious about this app.

Do people actually contribute with respect to traffic issues?

How do you do this when you're driving?

In larger metro areas people absolutely input driving info. I worked in Boston for two years and was back and forth to Logan airport multiple times a week from Rt. 128 area... about 20 miles. Waze saved me so much time there with traffic delays.

Its very easy to input delay reasons... a couple of clicks. I usually did it when I was stopped in traffic. Is it a distraction... sure... but so is changing the channel on your radio, inserting a CD, etc.. No more, no less. The app is designed very well.

I've never had a problem with it on multiple iPhones through the same iOS versions. Must be something messed up there in your profile or something. Might be worth restarting from scratch fresh factor restart.

This is great but the much maligned Apple Maps does traffic routing as well. I've got CarPlay and it's the only mapping choice sadly. So since I'm forced to use it by lack of choice I do on my 45 mile commute.

On the way home one day it asked me if I wanted to change the route to one that is 15 min quicker. "Odd" I thought as that particular stretch has maybe one exit. I decided to heed the warning and got off. As soon as I did I spotted the issue, traffic was backed up for miles. Apparently there was a horrific accident that had just happened. So thanks to all iPhone users and Apple using their location data to alert me to get off. Saved a ton of time.

I'd like to have the planned option but Apple maps already knows where I'm going to drive. It's hands off.

Reporting is accurate. Waze has built up a database over time of; average speed at where you are now vs time of day and what day of the week. If something out of the ordinary is up it can automatically record this and show this on the map for all. Users can self report, but it wont show for others unless you are really travelling slow. Also, it favours experience: if you are new to Waze and you report it wont let other users know unless someone else also reports it too. Once your credibility increases, reports can go live straight away.

IOS 9.3 does this already. At least the suggesting when to leave based on address in your calendar.
Waze has worked off you calendar for a while now too. Plus it learns that if yo travel somewhere at a certain time on certain days it automatically asks "going to xxx?" when you open the app.

What is new is you can load the app and see when may be the best time to go. I know if I travel at 7am my journey is 55mins - 1hr, if I travel at 7:40am it is 25 minutes. I actually get where I want just 10 minutes later but spent half the time travelling, I just leave later. I have known this for a while, but Waze confirms this with me now, and I can work it out for all other journeys too. Its more of an informative tool than anything.

The guest voices are brilliant. Arnie did a complete set as part of the Terminator Genisys promotion and it was brilliant. Funny and incredibly clear.

The real time traffic updates and route guidance save me from grief on my 100 mile commute every day. It has also saved me untold amounts of time and money. Sadly though I really don't like the latest version at all, it has taken a massive step back. v3 was clearer and had more functionality.

As for encouraging use whilst driving. I followed a woman driving an Audi TT a couple of weeks ago at night who had her interior light on and I could see her phone mounted on the font windscreen, she was on FaceTime with a bloke, all whilst driving unlit back roads. Mental. I don't see people moaning about that app for distracting drivers. If people are going to be stupid then they just will find ways to be stupid.

I wish Waze would incorporate lane guidance like how Google Maps does it. That's the one feature I'll open Google Maps for when I'm in an unfamiliar area with many lane changes.

Same. I had to take a long route on the highway today and wanted to use Waze, but since I wasn't familiar with where I was going, I used Google Maps solely for the lane guidance.

I've been opening both Apple Maps and Waze. I turn the volume off for Apple Maps but use it on the screen. I listen to Waze for it superior road condition warnings. I can always quickly bounce back to Waze if I need to report something
