Users can correct errors in both Google and Apple Maps.

Users can submit errors, but can't correct them. Users can actually edit Waze maps without waiting for the company to respond, or talk directly with local map managers, or become one.

Still waiting for Apple Maps to respond to an error I submitted in October. A trailhead is shown in the middle of the Ohio river, while it's actually about three miles away, and pretty far inland.

Oh great, just what I want in my mapping application—unapproved edits from random people!

Google is killing Assistant and replacing it with Gemini, why pretend they are just doing it for Ios Waze app.

I commend him. A NYC cab driver for 18 years. I want to hear the stories. Lol.
Where was this mentioned?

Also, why is Google spending time and money on both this and also Google Maps?

Better to do a fantastic job on one app then a halfway decent job on two.

Every time I see this app I'm amazed that anyone uses it...it's sooooooooooo ugly.
It's a nav app that you can have directing you in the background so you don't actually see it while using. Who cares?

I use a radar detector, so the police feature is not important any more for me. I use apple maps unless I am in a rental or doing a long road trip. Waze is definitely better than Google maps but the experience is a lot jankier than Apple maps.

Google and killing something. Name a more iconic duo.
Instead of saying to their subsidiary, "Use this product because it's ours even if it makes performance worse", they've opted to do what works best and the consumer benefits.
Don't care how iconic it may seem to some. Getting me where I want to go and avoiding traffic are the only iconic duo that I really care about.

How does a radar detector help you when they’re using laser? Also, by the time they can see you and your detector can see them, it’s probably too late. Waze alerts you much further in advance.

This is a very useful feature and I wish Apple could bring it to Apple Maps. With all the Apple Intelligence stuff being worked on, it should be possible, right Siri? ;)

I’m assuming he’s talking about NYC cab driver for 18 years if he knows the city that well.

Waze started to re-route everyone down Ensh!tification Avenue way back in 2012/2013. This is just another detour along that long and bumpy road.

Google wants to kill Waze so badly and force everyone over to Maps.. Waze forever.
They do seem to be making Waze worse. Routing seems to be less efficient than ever, and they still haven’t brought live activity support to the iPhone.

Agreed

Plus, when you're driving along, you shouldn't be fully looking at your phone or infotainment screen (if you have CarPlay) to begin with

If anything, you should either train yourself to see either of those in your peripheral vision while driving or just have it go in the background for the voice prompts

Why do people even need speed camera notifications? Thats like having an app showing where a theft detection officer is standing in a store!

Woohoo, I can drive at 70 in a 60 and not get caught! How juvenile.

The only thing I don’t like about Waze is the text on the routing directions is small which makes it hard to read for my aging eyes and Apple Maps has a cleaner look. However, Waze is the GOAT for re-routing and sensing traffic. I will never forget how I was racing to make my flight at LAX driving down from Bakersfield and Waze re-routed me through busy LA traffic on the fly by having me go through random resedential neighborhood streets.

I use a radar detector AND Waze. Neither is perfect, but with the combo I've avoided tickets for years.

Radar detectors are less useful than they used to be with so many cops using lasers now, and laser detection is a lot less useful than radar detection.

Apple maps has never been a good experience for me. Because I can't set a real default mapping app I sometimes end up in it, the last time that happened it was nearly a block off from where I needed to be.
