Hi guys, I'm new to this forum and a relatively new Mac user.

I've come here specifically to ask help on an issue that's been bugging me since I bought my macbook about 6 months ago.

I have a Western Digital SATA drive, which I'm trying to use as my external HDD. The external case is an Nspire eSATA/USB 2.0. I've had both for a while and have never gotten them to work properly

To be specific the model numbers are :
-WD drive : wd5000aaks - 00tmao
wd caviar se16

-Nspire case : NSP-HD-353-SSC (61845)

-I'm connecting to my macbook via the USB
I've transferred some files to the case, but for the most part the files seem to just kind of 'time out'.
When transferring sometimes it starts off alright and then I get the message:
The finder cannot complete the operation because some data in "filenamehere" could not be read or written (error code -36)

-This happens if I try to transfer to and from the HDD

-I've also gotten the error code -43 and an I/O problem message

What usually happens is after the -36 error, the external is still connected, but the files inside it are no longer visible, and the drive cannot be ejected by right-clicking on it.
It does eject if I use the terminal command hdiutil eject -force /Volume/volumeNameHere

- I should note that I dont think theres anything wrong with the hard drive itself, since when I had it connected inside my XP PC as the primary HDD it worked fine.

Well thats all the detail I can think of right now.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers.

Yeah Konanan, you could just chuck it all out the window.
Hope that helps.

Hey thanks Konanan, that's great advise. Then I won't have ANY error messages.
Cheers!
