I just got a new WD "macworld special" hard drive from OWC for my mac pro. Is it normal for the drive not to be in a box? The drive was in the protective packaging, and it seems like is was unopened. But, there was no retail box that it came in. Just wanted to make sure the drive is new. Sorry for what may be a dumb question.

Thanks

It's an OEM drive, the same kind provided wholesale by WD to computer manufacturers. It's no different than a boxed drive sold retail, with the exception of the box.

It is new, not used or refurbished. I have a WD drive purchased from OWC in my Mac Pro. Works perfectly.
