Hi, I have a WD my book for mac hooked up to my iMac running 10.11.5
I notice this /var/run/com.wdc.WDPrivilegedHelper.socket and suspect it might be causing a CPU process to run out of control
How do i get rid of it? I've tried through finder/go /var/run/com.wdc.WDPrivilegedHelper.socket
cant find that location.

any ideas?
thanks

I'm assuming you mean: /Volumes/Macintosh HD/private/var/run/com.wdc.WDPrivilegedHelper.socket

You don't need to use the Finder "go" as it's not hidden like the user library is.

that is the path i mean, however, when i go to /volumes/Macintosh HD/private/var/run ... there is no com.wdc....etc to be found.
yet it shows up as an open file/port in activity monitor under launchd

I don't have that either - at least when I checked. What happens when you eject the WD MyBook drive, does it still show up in Activity Monitor Launchd? I don't normally keep my WD drive attached at all times; only when I need it.
