I'm getting ready to purchase a WD My Book so I can extract the 4TB drive to upgrade a 4th generation Apple Time Capsule, model MD032LL/A. I've looked at quite a few videos on YouTube and getting the hard drive out of the My Book is not a problem, if you don't mind breaking the case. That's something I would prefer to avoid, if possible.

Has anyone successfully removed a hard drive from a WD My Book? If so, what the trick to doing it without breaking the tabs that secure the case?

Thanks!

[UPDATE]
BTW, the reason I'm doing this is an external drive is more available and less expensive than the same WD Green internal drive. Go figure. Here's the exact model: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/wd-my-b...lack/1766068.p?id=1219063238074&skuId=1766068

It is fairly easy to do without breaking the tabs. I have done two for the same reason cheaper than buying standalone, go figure eh! Just be careful and go easy at it with a small as you can find as in thin screwdriver, flat piece of sturdy metal, when you get to the tab parts of the casing it will be a matter of giving it a little more pressure than the parts where nothing holds it down. Getting the first side opened is the hardest as you will usually just have to sort of slide the case off by rotating it a little to have it slide out of the second side.

Edit: And when at the tab parts see if you can get behind it then push inwards to free it up.

Sounds good. To make sure I'm clear on this, the only tabs I need to try to open are the four along the edges in the back, correct? Did you find any good views on the process?

Thanks for your help.
