Hey!
I need a backup hardrive for my late 2008 iMac and my new MBP i7.
I have seen that WD make a mac range of HDDs that look really nice!
The my book studio caught my eye as it has 2 Firewire 800 ports on the back, Does this mean that you can connect 2 macs to it?

Also could you recommend some other hardrives with similar specs etc?

Thanks!

Definitely not. It means you can plug this drive into your Mac, and whatever Firewire Device was plugged into that port before you can now plug in to the second Firewire port on the hard drive. So you don't lose the use of a port on the Macintosh.

There should be a way to plug it into your iMac and publish it via file sharing so the MBP can access it through WiFi, but I haven't tried that. And in that case, you don't really need to spend the money for the speed, because speed will be limited by WiFi.
