It's too large to go into MB/MBP (12mm height). 320 is still the largest (physical) drive.

Its 12.5mm thick according to Computer World, which is fine for the MB. Still, its £200, which I couldnt afford :(

Just installed the same HD into my MBP. The steps from iFixit were spot on, fortunately I had another computer to view the pages. The hardest part was waiting the 2+ hrs for the original HD to clone onto the new HD.

To the OP: Do you notice your computer running a little warmer? My MBP used to hold steady at 56C, and since I've put the new HD in I've seen a little fluctuation up to 62C sometimes. Even when no apps are running, it seems to just increase on it's own. Anyone else experience this?

I do unfortunately. Right now its at 30C (its been on sleep for a while) but earlier it was at ~56C when the old HD was only at ~35C.

I just ran xBench and it turns out that the HD is significantly faster than my previous one-I now get 136.45 when I only got 95 or so before  Full results

think your right 9.5 mm max

I stand corrected

I installed the same WD HD in my 2.4GHz Santa Rosa MBP. Everything went smoothly, and the drive has performed amazingly well... much better than the 250GB Samsung drive I had in before. That drive was clicking from time to time, and I was getting random freezes.

This drive runs fast, quiet, and pretty cool. I've also surpassed the 400 hour mark in terms of how long I've had it. The reason I mention that is because of the 250GB WD drive that was the predecessor to this drive. A lot of people on NewEgg reported having all kinds of S.M.A.R.T. failures after approximately 300 hours of use. Whatever the problem that was causing the high failure rate in that drive, WD seems to have corrected it in this model. No one is reporting S.M.A.R.T. failures on NewEgg, and like I said, I've passed the 300 hour mark and everything is still fine.

Would definitely recommend this drive to anyone looking for more room in their notebook.

Here is to hoping the 320GB drive will be offered as an upgrade option on the 15th :)

I do not believe Apple is kind enough to offer them in stock configurations.

Update: The higher temps I was noticing have not come back, and the temp now baselines around 54C.

This drive is quiet!. And it's a whole lot faster than my 80g, which was close to capacity, even though it's running at 5400.
