Awesome! So how long do you think before Installer.app gets updated to work on 1.1.1? How does this process work?

I'd imagine AppTapp will eventually be updated and you'll just do the same process again. Though, TUAW.com said they are nowhere near done but it is progress. :)

Huh? The Touch isn't jailed.

I'm pretty sure the touch is locked down in a similar way to the iPhone 1.1.1, so if they can get into a 1.1.1 iPhone then fingers crossed similar methods can get us inside the touch.

Ok, what did we all learn from the last round of hacking vs updates?

It'll be the same this time.

A plea:

If you hack your phone and the next update disables it again, can you please keep it to yourself.

thx.

GREAT news! Hopefully Ambrosia will be able to use this to update iToner to work with iTunes 7.4.2 & iPhone 1.1.1...

I hope Ambrosia doesn't have to resort to 'jailbreak' to make custom ringtones work. They've been trying real hard to 'stay within the lines' and not have Apple too pissed off at them.

Reports are that they are testing iToner 1.0.3. Hoping they get it all working soon!

I guess we didn't learn a thing from the last update....:(

Here's to hoping Jobs and crew stuff this one up yer six as well!

What I want to know is does this mean we WONT HAVE bricked
phones if we upgrade from 1.0.2 jailbreaked and unlocked?

Or does this just mean if you get a new iphone you can jailbreak it?

Any chance of some of the features of 1.1.1 being moved over to 1.0.2 because if upgrading still means breaking existing phones it is not helpful to those of us who can't afford another phone JUST to jailbreak it!

Great work Dev Team, we all appreciate your efforts....

BUT

you guys should have waited until Apple released an update worth updating to before playing your hand. Now it seems Apple is likely to seal up whatever crack the Dev Team exploited whenever Apple releases the next update (which hopefully contains useful features instead of the useless crap 1.1.1 had).

You miss the point, the Dev team does their work because they want to for fun, it's a hobby to them, that and they want to run whatever apps they want on their iPhones.
